cats are ageing different to humans and also slower as dogs. the old tale that a 7 cat-years  are equivalent to 1 human vear ist no longer valid. and the NFO has one surplus speciality: she is maturing very slowly, is only full grown at 3 years (but fertile sometimes at 6 months). this makes presume that the ageing proces overall is slower than at normal cats and that NFO at a given age (in years) is younger than a „normal“ cat. that is not yet scientific approved but based on the experience of breeders.

the average age of NFO is counted at appoximately 15  human years; in their new environment close to humans they may grow older. that also means that they will encounter also more likely civilisation deseases when they are getting long in the tooth - like tumors or diabetes or loosing teeth or kidney-/liver deseases.

like in humans, the ageing will proceed diffeent between one person and another. the same happens at cats - and the older they grow, they will develop differently, showing their indistinguishable personalty.

2. hcm - the findus case
when we bought directly from sweden our new stud to be, the heart desease hcm was no item for us or anyone. only some friends warned us about possible faults in the breed on mothers side, having read the pedigree. but everything seemed to be quiet, nobody worried. the mortal big bang came one year later, when a brother to our male collapsed and we immediately went to a specialized vet who very fast diagosed our boy „equvocal“ at the verge of a full blown hcm.if such a thing happens, a breeder gives usuallly a surrogate no matter from which part of the mating  the disease comes from, in sweden now  even covered by an insurance. not with

this was the last contact with this breeder (parts of the letter clipped for faster reading). when we asked for the complete lines of the cats she offered, there was no response and a complete blackout. even no question from her how findus is doing now - she may learn about when she contacts us again.
the research on hcm went on - also specially in this case. the owner of the male finally, after a second consultation, found out that Tassajaras Torak had hcm (and had given it to his babys). But when Toraks parents were tested, both looked healthy, a rather impossible case as HCM is dominant (with incomplete expression sometimes)  and one of the parents must at least carry this gene but no later test was done as far as we know. Which one was tested unsufficiently, which one had hidden the desease in its gene?

„disappearing gifs“
the problem with the „disappearing gifs“ in internet explorer exists since december 2005 - when microsoft released a „security update“. KB905915  since then, a lot of gifs (and later also  .png’s) produced by the „quark“ system were no more visible on screen, only the „famous“ white crosses on a red dot were appearing on thousands of pages worldwide. having heard about this problem, we tried to build our pages mostly with photoshop-gifs - without luck: we actually got a very sad feedback from numerous users that also ps-gifs were partially invisible. it only happened, as we learnt, with computers on W 2000 and XP and an i.e. with this infamous „security“ patch. No other systems were involved - and all other browsers so far were dealing correctly with this item. as we did not have the time till this problem was fixed (50% our visitors come via i.e.), we tried to work around it., until another lousy fault would cannibalize our site. sorry for the inconvenience. maybe you change in the meantime to another browser like firefox or netscape (adresses on the start page). it is said they are much more reliable. in summer 2007 the problems seemed solved miracously - but who knows when they come up with the next bug. so please keep this in mind. If you still (or again) find missing pictures or anything else  on our pages, feel free to send us a mail . thank you.

this breeder:after the initial shock with her offer of another male, she denied any more contact, probably saying that her queen was tested okay, so the fault came from the (hired) stud. but hers was the mating and the money...and we even did not have a chance to look at the test results of the queen - a way serious breeders do, specially when it is a negative result. the last email from the then submerged breeder:
